Coyote

On Saturday I took a ride on the bike trail to Coyote. Coyote is a little town South of San Jose that time forgot. The farms, fields and forgotten orchards act as a wildlife corridor between the Diablo Range and the Santa Cruz Mountains. There were plans to develop it at one point which luckily fell through. The bike trail is pretty underused between South San Jose and Morgan Hill so you can go awhile without seeing another person. At the points when you can't hear or see the freeway and if you block out the electric towers you forget how close you are to the city. I've seen wild pigs, bunnies, a 3 legged fox, bobcats and once about 20 years ago I think I saw a mountain lion.

The Coyote Stage Stop is a biker bar on Monterey Highway. There's not so many of these type of honky tonks around this region any more. I like the classic old sign.

From Coyote is rode to Hellyer park in San Jose. I was there last weekend with Jacob and we saw a crap load of turtles sunning themselves on the rocks right on the shore of the little goose poop filled lake. However, this weekend was about 10 degrees cooler so I only caught a quick glimpse of one before he ducked back into he water.....

Sacrifice

We're moving into an apartment soon so I had to get rid of my ramps. What else could I do but smash and burn them?

Ancient Orchard & Mustard

I see this all the time when getting on the freeway. I had always heard that scenes from Attack of the Killer Tomatoes had been shot 'round these parts. I recently rewatched that cinematic masterpiece and saw in the credits that it was filmed in San Diego. That really bummed me out.
